Maximum Dottage Update 2008
1109 Comments :: Published by md.Gaq on Sun 17 Aug 2008 at 03:08

Good morning. Almost a year to the day since we had an update - here it is.

What we have been up to
The Dottagers, md's "sister" setup and WoW guild, continues to go from strength to strength. Our entire original md roster is still there bar 1 or 2 who don't have the time. We had our annual pissup the other week which was again an enormous success.

What I'm doing posting news on here
With the rise of FPS communities some of us have been playing CoD4 and TF2, the indisputed up and coming communities in the genre. It has showed many of us that although CS's decline ultimately messed up what we always wanted to continue with in md, these days communities like md still thrive on random public servers, and that it's an exciting time to have a clan like that.

Where we go from here
It is the intention of a few of us (not all) to reform md and reopen it to recruiting. I'm sure we can at least manage a shared server for one of the games. On a personal note it has never been quite the same since the clan days so whether or not this works, we already have half a dozen md members doing the rounds on tf2 servers. Check out the md Steam page if you're an old regular/member who wants to get in contact.
Finally, the life machine was switched off

It's a sad, sad day for md and the end of an era as md:24 expired for the last time. The server has recently become reduced to a comatose-like state and we felt it best to put it out of its misery at last and keep the memories from better times.

Few of our members were using the old girl anymore, but many were still paying for it, hoping for some kind of revival. Of course, it never came. Sadly those years of the clan seem to be well and truly over, and we are looking increasingly into an exciting new arrangement of old and new members on WoW. There is little chance of many of us playing much CS ever again, but we're still wearing our tags and hanging about in our (increasingly rubbish) channel, having the odd game here and there of whatever takes our fancy.

What can you say? We had some fantastic years, personally I can remember as far back as our first jolt server that was absolutely god-awful, but the public server atmosphere of md:24 still attracted some of our best lads and lasses. It was more than a server, at times it was like going down your local pub, and it's a shame we'll never have nights like that again. WoW is great, but very different in that respect, and unfortunately you always miss what isn't there anymore.

'So where does this leave Maximum Dottage?' I hear you cry. We are still desperate for a guild site to continue our legacy in another form. All of our members are still around and still 'for the cause', they still use the forum and the channel and we still go out every now and then for a pissup (to be honest though, the major activity is on WoW because the chat interface on it is every bit as good as IRC). The CS is finished for now but the atmosphere isn't. So this isn't a 'fold' by any means, just the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

By the way, we're fairly interested in getting some of our ex-members back in the channel for old time's sake, so if you are one, take note.

Well, that's the send off for md:24. Fine years. But we're still alive and kicking. Up the md!

Lineup: Frohanlon, Azulle, Durial, Badgerbob, Pipington, Samundo, Rayvon, Lazyboi, Khatarina, Amordo.

Well after quite a while Maiden of Virtue is finally down.

We've had some pretty poor nights lately, aswell as plenty of bad turnouts but finally Maiden is down and we can get on with progressing further into the very spooky Karazhan. A team with noticeable absences from the strongest 10 did excellently, taking down Attumen and Moroes without dying once (something we haven't managed before last night) and after a few goes finally put the big bint to bed.

Well done chaps

Apologies to those who could not access our servers, unfortunately we had unexpected downtime whilst payment was being processed. Please get back on either CS server and enjoy those frags!
