Tonight saw us acquire our first win in a match since April. For our first match in theSGL it was an unbelievable start, and also an unbelievable performance.
The first-half saw us take some time to get off the blocks, however we did manage to get the early rounds necessary with some fine AWPing by Liam and some great play by Smokey and pip. The fact we kept it down to a respectable 10-5 at the halfway stages still didn't offer much consolation, we all felt on HLTV that the lads had played well so far and not been rewarded.
The second half began at pace, with md taking the 5-0 lead, however once Stenchcombe did get a round it seemed to knock the wind out of us. However, stubborn resistances from Rayvon and Titch, who took centre stage, kept the momentum going even when pegged back, and in the end we should've won by a lot more (Part of this due to Smokey being trapped behind a crate during a 2v1 advantage).
The biggest mention should go to a quite staggering performance by Rayvon, who was having multi-takedowns added to his score nearly every round. As the last round approached with us needing to win, he saved the best till last, with a stunning 3-man takedown, and then hunting down the other 2 for the ace. A truly breathtaking performance and the buzz on HLTV was mental. |

Amazing scenes tonight as 22 md. players came together to play a monumental birthday match to mark three years of md.
The 11v11 free-for-all, with the ex-md'ers featuring Crakle, Ex, Mski, VersioN, Aber, Deckard, lamah, Blinky, Northstar, loxs, and filling in for the AWOL Skulla, Liam (currently an md trialist), was one of the most entertaining moments ever featured in this clan, I can truly say it lived up to all expectations and probably surpassed them. A fitting birthday present for the md faithful, and all-round an enormous success.
md. had taken a good lead and went in 9-6 at the break after some good T rounds, and started the second half as CT in the same vain. However, it wasn't over as the ex-md'ers found their footing and forced the game into a deciding two rounds at the end, both of which md. won to clinch the draw and then the victory.
We have played a 10v10 before and lost convincingly, but never have we played such an entertaining, even match with so many great moments. This truly was an anniversary to remember.
Once again, happy birthday md. Thanks to all the ex-md'ers who turned up and played their part, without them this couldn't have been possible.
Update: The match video is now available from the Forum. |

Oh dear oh dear. Operative Salvaged Pride was shot down in flames in this match by a terrifyingly good performance by Valens Ladies, who coincidentally (and also quite sickeningly) contained one MAN in their lineup! His hairy chest was clearly enough for the whole team, who handed our arses back to us. In truth though it was the Norwegian one, what's her face, who did the most damage. She obtained nearly 500 kills in the first half and didn't die once, followed by 850 kills in the second half and even managed to flag down a van and stop for ice-cream halfway through, while firing headshots over her shoulder nonchanantly. And also, rather unfortunately for us, Smokesta was rolling around drunk and we also found that our old match-team lies in tatters. We couldn't hit a barn door! It was clearly a case of "outplayed and outfought "against a team that plays as many matches a day as their combined age, and lest we become some kind of pointless popularity-contest clan it doesn't look like we'll match those kind of players anytime soon. So it is bowing out of SGC3 time, but hopefully [EEV] will win! Luckily, we were only the joint worse team in the tournament, as opposed to the worst. We should leave matches to the people who play them and know what to do. Long live md! |

It all went wrong again tonight as we crashed out of SGC3 after only two games. After a promising start as CT we bought weapons too early and left the grenades in the shop, and this would be where the problems started - the dismantling of our team went from there. Although we were still in it at the point it became apparent that at 3-2 down we were in dire straits, the lineup began to lose faith and were stuck with no variation in tactics and couldn't change things to bamboozle the opposition. They had us sussed, and despite being a CT-biased map, the [BwA] terrorists pinned us to the wall and won the half convincingly, blowing us out of positions from afar fully knowing we'd be there each round. The Terrorist half for md. struck a miserable pose, our 5 looked stuck for ideas and spent the majority of the time hanging around waiting for pushers, usually ones that never came. The minute we did make a move we'd be grenaded from all directions, subjected to outstanding shots or come face to face with massive backup. [BwA] had truly shown us how it was done and we only got the last round as Ts, and didn't look like winners by a long long way. In truth as soon as our backs were to the walls, there was again no response, and therein lay the problem. md. play their final match next week against Valens Ladies and I hope they make a last gasp impression on a disappointing tournament for the clan. |
